International Studies in Mechanical Engineering (ISIM)
International experience is an important component of a qualified higher education. Subject-related study stays abroad require suitable partnerships with foreign universities, coordinated programmes and teaching content. In order to offer students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering a wide range of opportunities, ISIM advises and supports outgoing students in preparing and carrying out their subject- and study-related stay abroad. Incoming students as well as guest students will find orientation help for an easier entry into studying at KIT. ISIM is the first point of contact for faculty staff in questions concerning international exchange programs, new partnerships with foreign universities, and their own stays abroad such as lecturer and staff mobility within the framework of ERASMUS+.

The International Afternoon of the KIT Faculty of Mechanical Engineering takes place once a year in the first half of November. By attending this event, students of mechanical engineering can get a comprehensive overview of all possibilities of a study-related stay abroad within a short time. Both the faculty's own programs and general exchange or internship opportunities are presented. The programs are briefly explained by the respective program officers and there is usually enough time for questions. At the end of the event - in good time before the application phase begins - you will have all the basic information you need about exchange programmes as well as the opportunities for internships or thesis work abroad.30.10.2019 from 13:30h to approx. 18:00h in the Benz lecture hall

All current ERASMUS Outgoers (academic year 19/20) are free to interrupt or abandon their stay abroad and return home due to the corona epidemic. Please inform the host university as well as ISIM and IStO about this step. As things stand at present, your scholarship will be calculated to the day if you terminate your scholarship, so keep all documents proving your time of stay. Further financial support, e.g. to settle claims from tenancy agreements at the foreign place of study, is currently being negotiated. In case of an interruption of your stay or a continuation of your stay in the "online mode", the scholarship will be calculated to the day according to the Grant Agreement. The period of interruption or virtual study from home counts as study abroad. If you have already granted a leave of absence for the coming summer semester 2020 that you do not want to take up again after having interrupted your ERASMUS stay, please contact the Student Service/SLE directly to find out whether a reversal is possible so that you can take up the SS at KIT. The question is currently being clarified, ISIM and IStO have not yet made any final statements. Status: 20.04.2020of ERASMUS outgoers (academic year 19/20) due to the corona epidemic
