Withdrawal after Deadline

In case there are reasons which are out of your responsibility, it is possible to withdraw from exams, even if the deadline is passed.

The deadlines for withdrawing from examinations that have already been registered are described in the study and examination regulations. These are

  • for written examinations, up to the day before the examination,
  • for oral examinations, no later than three working days before the examination.

Students who are unable to meet these deadlines can also withdraw after the start of the examination, or if you were not able to take part in the examination. However, the study and examination regulations stipulate that in this case the examination board must be notified immediately in writing and the reason given must be credible.

If you would like to apply for an extension of the deadline, we require the following documents:

  • an informal application with a brief explanation of why you missed the deadline through no fault of your own,
  • written proof of the reasons, for example a medical certificate from the day of the exam stating the extent to which you were affected by your illness when taking the exam and when you will be able to take the exam again.

You can submit the application in pdf format directly from your KIT e-mail address to the MACH/ MEI Examination Committee by e-mail. Generally, it is not necessary to attend the consultation hours.
